new years seem like a blur already.

was originally planning to write 'year in review' thingie for 05 but other stuff had came up since that's pretty much prevented me from blogging.

had freelance storyboard work during the 'holidays' which is good because it means i can pay off all those debts from all the bills that are coming (and accumulating) for december and xmas. getting back on the freelance horse has reminded me that it's always "finish the work ASAP and we'll pay you when we feel like it."

i was asked to participate in an exhibition for short animations, trailers, photographers and urban vinyl toy designers. the organiser, who never held an exhibition before, pull it all off in just over 2 weeks time. i helped out 2 to 3 days putting together the showreel with final cut pro of everyone's work for her. it was very tiring work and kinda hard when people give you compressed and low-resolution pieces to begin with. but seeing it all on the night at the loop bar (whom generously provided the place for us on sunday) was very rewarding. if any photos or web info pops up, i'll be sure to post about it here.

whatever time i had left in between, i spent searching for broadcast & motion designers in melbourne and around australia, working on my own reel, design my logo and portfolio website. i still wish i could find the time to start drawing stuff for 06. maybe next week.

other than that, i feel kinda like i'm not moving forward or backward at the moment in my life. it's good that i'm getting freelance work. it's work i mostly enjoy and it pays the bills (when they pay me). but on the other hand, i'm not really learning anything new and if i pursue more freelance work, i'm not sure it can securely support beyond me and future plans. for now, i think i'm just going to go with the flow and see.

movies:
chronicles of narnia - pretty good, definitely enjoyable. not quite lord of the rings though.

sympathy for lady vengence - directed by one of my favorite korean director, park chan-wook who did old boy and stars the actress from jewel in the palace, lee youngae. this film was quite good. i still like old boy a bit better just for it's execution and delivery. most of lady vengence is told via characters that the main character come across and can get a bit confusing like mixing puzzle pieces. not as violent visually either, even though the subject matters are still very very disturbing, so i'm thinking this movie was aimed more for a wider audience.

mr & mrs. smith - i've read a lot of comments online that people didn't like this movie much but i kinda liked it. heck, i really liked it. the ending could have been much better if they actually went after the "father" instead of that shootout scene in the home warehouse store.
