000094 - a week in summary...

above is a piece of art drawn by corey s. lewis that i coloured early last week as a competition thingy. unfortunately he didn't pick mine (but said it was one of his favs at least). first time i've ever really coloured over someone else's art and i think i was a bit conservative in style and colour choice. the artwork is for an upcoming american mangaka book.

wednesday last week, i had a job interview. the interview itself went quite well i thought (i'm awaiting a potential second interview) but the day didn't start off too well as my alarm strangely didn't go off, so i had to rush. i also got caught answering my mobile at the traffic lights while driving by a cop which resulted in a fine :(

another interview for a totally different company and job also went well on thursday last week (may get a second interview early next week if i make the cut). the night before i had really strange but vivid dreams of my late grandparents visiting! while walking to my interview, i also saw what looked like a break-in and an old man rolling up a cig in his verandah asking if i had 4 bucks to spare (i read his lips and hand gestures as i had my ipod on).

thursday that same night, i took my girlfriend and my parents to see the broadway musical, the lion king. i got the tickets like just before christmas last year in order to get some good seats and i have to say, it was well worth the price of admission and the hype. great production value especially in costumes and just basically getting the characters and feel right into a stage production.

watched some dvds last weekend. blood & bones: kinda sad and depressing and a bit drawn out. whiteout: fantastic! great japanese action thriller like the classic and original die hard. finally, ong bak: the fighting and acrobatics are great but the movie overall was a bit meh for me.

up to the final case in phoenix wright: ace attorney and kind of don't want to finish it since i'd probably go thru withdrawal from such an awesome game :( (i went and d/l the rom for gyakuten saiban 3 even!!). decided to get animal crossing: wild world just like recently and have been having fun experiencing life in the ac world! please friend me if you've got this game!!

got and completed 2 storyboard jobs early this week. it felt good mainly because they called and i felt wanted for my services again. hopefully my creative juices are replenishing and will work on some of the various projects i have on my plate real soon.

EDIT: oops, totally forgot about last sunday night at the comedy festival. went and saw dylan moran. i wasn't expecting him to be so philosophical but then thinking about his character, bernard, in black books (which i'm a fan of), it made sense. very funny.

000093 - ds lite got

late last tuesday, i received an email from liksang informing me that my order has finally shipped after almost 1 month being on the order waiting list and amazingly by thursday, i got my grubby little mits on my very own nintendo ds lite (enamel navy)! ^_____^

it's a beautiful little piece of portable gaming hardware as you'd expect from nintendo. while i still love how great the gameboy micro is with it's size and screen, the ds lite definitely has a few new features like wi-fi and touch screen that i was just dying to have go with. luckily, i got a copy of phoenix wright: ace attorney a couple of weeks ago in the mail which has made breaking the cherry on my ds lite all that sweeter!!

phoenix wright is bloody addictive. after almost breezing through the first case (stage), i thought this will be a short game but the staging and the pacing changes from the second case onwards and man, i found myself not being able to stop playing into the wee hours of the night trying to finish each case.

i have no idea what game i'd like to get next though. and it's not from the lack of choice either, since there's plenty of great ds games out there already. i'm leaning towards animal crossing : wild world myself, but any recommendations?

on a totally different note, check out this latest cool article about transformers from this awesome cool online design magazine, pingmag, that i regularly read.
